Fed stays on hold with Powell warning: Were trying to get the timing right”
Date: 2025-08-06 20:09:06
The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged in a range of 4.25% to 4.5%, citing a solid labor market and ongoing inflation pressures. While inflation has eased significantly since 2022, Chair Jerome Powell noted that inflation remains “somewhat elevated,” with tariffs starting to push prices higher. Powell emphasized that monetary policy remains “modestly restrictive,” and said the Fed is closely monitoring incoming data ahead of its September meeting.
“We have made no decisions about September,” Powell stated. “We’ll be taking that information into consideration and all the other information we get as we make our decision.”
