In the world of options-based income ETFs, there’s some pretty big news regarding one of the biggest fund providers in the high yielding investment sector. One of them is in the process of eliminating over a third of their income focused options based ETFs. A few days ago the company Defiance announced that they would be shutting down six of their high yield funds, as well as two other funds in their lineup. The funds being shut down span across three of this company’s ETF categories, and make up a sizable amount of their total fund lineup. Defiance offers four different types of ETFs: leveraged long ETFs, leveraged short ETFs, thematic ETFs and income ETFs. Six of the funds being eliminated by this company come from their income lineup. These are funds that are designed to give investors high income using various options strategies including credit call spreads, covered calls, and so on.
