The order is:
Create the plan
Test & optimize the plan
Automate the plan
Automation doesn’t magically make you a good trader.
It just follows the rules you give it — so the quality of automation depends on the quality of the plan.
If your plan is vague, your automation will be vague.
If your plan is emotional, automation won’t fix that.
But if your plan is clear, automation helps you follow it consistently.
Automation isn’t replacing judgment — it’s executing decisions you already made.
Examples of turning vague into rules:
“I’ll probably close it if it looks bad” → Close at 50% profit
“I don’t want to hold close to expiration” → Exit if DTE ≤ 5
“I’ll enter when it feels right” → Enter only when conditions match criteria
That’s how trading becomes systematic.
