A Seeking Alpha article that’s been making the rounds lately is “The REIT Dividend Thesis is Falling Apart”. In his write-up, Roberts lays out his opinion on dividend investors holding real estate investment trusts. The argument he makes is that REITs have become so unappealing in recent years that most people who are looking for dividend income would be better off avoiding them altogether. And instead, pursuing some other alternatives, which he argues would be a better investing move. And that’s regardless if you’re a growth or income investor. It’s an interesting argument, and I think it’s worth talking about, because Robert raised some good points regarding the REIT sector that are hard to deny at this point.
