Step one is simple: create a plan before the pressure starts.
Step two: test and optimize — because once you have a plan, you need to know if it actually makes sense.
This is where you move from opinion to data:
“Has this worked before?”
“What if I change the entry?”
“What if I change the exit?”
“Different expiration?”
“Take profits earlier?”
“Reduce risk?”
Testing isn’t about finding a perfect strategy (there isn’t one).
Testing is about understanding the tradeoffs:
Higher probability usually = smaller reward
Higher reward usually = lower probability
More time = more room, but changes premium + risk
Closer strikes = more credit, more risk
Farther strikes = higher probability, less reward
So you stop asking “Is this good or bad?”
And start asking: What am I giving up to get this?
That’s how you understand risk before you put money to work.
