America Says Hormuz Wont Matter in 2 Years. Heres the Problem.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just predicted that the most important oil chokepoint on Earth will stop mattering within two years: the Strait of Hormuz, he said, is about to become just another body of water. Washington’s top diplomat is saying the same thing. The plan sounds simple enough: build pipelines around Iran, and the strait that carries a fifth of the world’s oil loses its grip on the global economy. The pipelines that exist today move a fraction of what passes through Hormuz in a single day, and the routes meant to close the gap all share one feature nobody in Washington is talking about. They have to come out somewhere. What waits at the other end is the problem.
